DPO and two others were killed in a bandit attack on the local government headquarters in Zamfara.

On Saturday night, armed bandits stormed the Maru Local Government headquarters in Zamfara State, murdering a divisional police officer and two other people.

Residents were forced to flee for safety as a result of the gunmen's intermittent shooting as they assaulted Maru in large numbers.
The Divisional Police Officer of the Local Government, Kazeem Raheem, organized his soldiers and a few neighborhood vigilantes to fend off the bandits as soon as he learned of the attack.

The DPO, a sergeant by the name of Rabiu Bagobiri, and a vigilante official by the name of Shehu Chuka, however, were all slain during the counteroffensive.

SP Mohammed Shehu, a spokesman for the Zamfara State Police Command, told Channels Television over the phone that police officials from the state are currently in Maru conducting an on-the-ground evaluation.
SP Shehu informed our correspondent, "We are currently in Maru; I will get back to you when we get in Gusau.
Unknown number of locals were also kidnapped in the attack, a source from the local government offices said Channels Television.
The insider, who wished to remain anonymous, said, "They snatched people, but no specific number so far. They are still looking for people who bolted for their lives.

Zamfara State's Maru Local Government Area, one of the state's local governments, located roughly 84 kilometers from Gusau, the state's capital.
